My Perspective

What I'm Thinking

Let Me Say This:

Marketing and sales are central to business success. Dramatic international changes have driven re-shoring initiatives at the same time that technology solutions have multiplied exponentially. All of this has made supply chain strategy and execution decisions, and how we market them, to be that much more critical and complex.

Until a few minutes ago, those of us in retail were all trying to figure out how to compete with massive, integrated distributors. Now distribution is just as often seeking the last mile relationship with consumers retailers perfected. From past experience in healthcare distribution, it’s also clear that development of large networks of distributed healthcare clinics is also demanding new thinking and deployment strategies in supply chain in support (think smaller, distributed B2B pharmacies, etc.).

Different strategies demand different tools and technologies in support of those tools. It’s all fascinating and fun, but at the end of the day, it all has to get done, done quickly, and it all has to work.

Fully informed strategies, vendor choice, and execution will win the day.

Everyone wants to be closer to the consumer, and Amazon leads the Supply Chain push to be near you with 16M SQFT in new warehouse space in the batters box this year.

We may want to focus away from world issues, and for good reason, but the world stage impacts us regardless.  Example: a 30% increase in container rates because of diversions away from the Red Sea (which itself carries 30% of global container trade).

Branson excels in process design, but equally importantly in subsequent, relentless process execution. He surrounds himself with overachievers and then they all go out as a team and overachieve.  Sounds simple… it’s not.
